      DAILY ISSUES AND LONG TERM ISSUES


      Every day we become very busy and we do not realize the passage of time.
      Before we could realise it is Monday, the week is over and we are on the
      weekend. If you take your marriage album or family album and go through it
      from cover to cover, you will realise that years have rolled by without your
      being aware of it.

      One day we will realise that we were too occupied with routine things that
      certain critical issues did not engage our attention. Issues that will
      become critical when we are in our 50s and 60s, are not even in conscious
      awareness level. At a time when these issues become critical, it is too
      late for us to work on any one of them. Hence the need to differentiate
      between daily issues and long term issues.

      Daily issues are things such as getting ready to work, attending to our
      normal routine, eating, sleeping, hygiene factors, etc. These are very
      essential to keep our present life useful. At the same time, there are long
      term issues which may not produce results on a daily basis. Examples are
      long term health, savings, retirement life, developmental issues, etc.
      Amidst our daily routine things, we should set aside time for long term
      issues also.

      Ask the following questions to yourself:

      1. Do you have the skill required to succeed in life five years from now?
      2. When did you have your master health check up? Do your weight and height
      match? If not, what are you going to do?
      3. Have you started saving for your retirement? If you are to stop working
      now, how long will you be able to sustain?
      4. Are you in touch with your old friends and if so at what frequency?
      5. Are you clear as to what your children want to be when they are of your
      age?

      While it is very important to attend to daily issues, equally important are
      our long term issues.

      日常问题和长期问题
      我们变得每天忙忙碌碌却意识不到时间的流失。在星期一我们认识到这一点以前,这周
      已经到了周末了。如果你从头到尾翻阅一遍结婚或者家庭相册,你会发现这些年在不经
      意间已经逝去了。
      总有一天我们会意识到自己太忙碌于日常任务而一些重要、紧急的事情却没有引起我们
      足够的注意。问题在我们50-60岁的时候变得越发紧急,甚至还没有明白这些问题。当
      这些问题变得紧急的时候,再去改变已经太晚了。因此需要区分日常问题和长期问题。
      日常问题是象准备工作、处理例行公事、吃饭、睡觉、卫生等等。这些是我们日常生活
      中非常基本的事情。同时,存在的长期问题并没有在日常工作中产生结果。例如长期的
      身体健康、储蓄、退休生活、子女成长等等。在我们的每日例行公事中,我们应该也为
      长期问题安排一些时间。
      问自己几个问题:
      1、你是否具有相应技能以保证从今以后五年的成功?
      2、什么时候进行的全面体检?你的重量和身高是否匹配?如果答案是否定的,你准备
      做什么?
      3、你开始为退休存款了吗?如果你现在还在工作,你能维持工作多长时间?
      4、你和老朋友多长时间接触一次?
      5、你是否知道你的孩子在你这年纪想做什么?

      虽然日常问题很重要,长期问题也同样重要。
