night.
One o'clock in the morning.
Dark.
B'Jork Playing in the computer. It was really dark outside, but not completely dark. There has never been any completeness in a developed human society. Individuality wouldn't allow rules to rule the planet. There're always rules of course, but people break rules, just for some fresh air maybe. We're told to be asleep at one o'clock in the morning. But every night there are always some of us who keep ourselves awake. Therefore there're lights that are still on. And continue to be on. Home sickness? Or is it just ennui? Say you're too bored to goto sleep?
Just curious. Why do most people make love at night, whereas porn movies are filmed in the daylight? To satisfy our natural hobby of peeping? Isn't art a reflection of real life? What is real anyway? Aren't we all defined by mass media?
B'York still on. She's non-sexual in a way. Utopia. Parthenogenesis. Can someone be non-sexually sexy?
D.
In a few hours' time, today will be another day. A new beginning, or not.
And then it was another typical Thursday afternoon. The refrigerator had long been emptied. We had nothing to eat last night. Unfortunately when we realized that it was eleven o'clock, and as expected no restaurants of decency would be possibly still open. "That means we had to go for grocery shopping again." I thought.
The sun is out though, in spite of the pessimism. No one'd give a damn about your pessimism these days. The air seems to be filled with that creamy, egg-shell color again. Burning hot. It's what we call electro-magnetic wave within the visible range, or in short, sun light. I feel exposed and naked under this sun. To be honest. It seems that we are vampires who are shamed by our very existence in every beam of daylight.
I could hardly open my eyes. Seeing is believing, but without seeing the sun you know it's there without a question. People said that the ozone layer above the continent of Australia has a huge hole in it, making it even worse an idea to stare at the burning ball. Not as if I want to do it. The last time I look into the sun directly with my naked eyes was couple of years ago when I tried to prove to my little friends that I was brave enough to do it. Back then it almost sounded like a brilliant idea.
On the east side of Lygon street lies blocks of old residential buildings that must have been built during the 70s. Universal style, and Ugly. For some unknown reason all Chinese people in Melbourne call these buildings “refugees’ houses”. Only black people with African looks could be expected to come out from that building. Whether they are really refugees I don’t know, nor do I care, but it is a very fine example of false superiority. As if we do not belong to this category ourselves.
There are churches on both sides of Lygon. Apparently one is not enough to wash away our sins. Christianity becomes very interesting when it comes to our lives. People try to make you believe in something that they have faith in. But “belief” is reason whereas “faith” is non-reason. How does it work?
