(不要跟wild混淆了，wild 可是野蛮、狂野的意思)

4、区分
give in、give up、give out：
give in: 投降、屈服、让步
He didn't want to go to the cinema, but they begged so hard that he
give in and went with them.
give up: 放弃、停止、抛弃、绝望
The examination is so hard that i
give up. 考试太难了，我放弃了。
give out: 分发、发出、发表、用尽
The radion
gives out a strange signal. 收音机发出一种奇怪的信号。
5、区分
lay int、lay off :
lay in: 储藏 They always
lay in a large supply of tinned food in winter in case they are snowed up . 在冬天他们经常储藏很多罐装食品， 以免因为大雪被困。
lay off:解雇、停止工作 Several hundred more employees have to be
laid off if the company does not get any new orders soon. 如果公司还没有任何的新规定，那么又有几百个员工要被解雇了。
