一、Square电子支付
手机钱包业务一直被视为移动业务的未来明星业务，刷手机坐公交车，刷手机坐地铁或许是一件非常方便的事情，也是一笔可以做的买卖。不过在成为明星前还有很多的路要走。因为让手机拥有刷卡的功能，一般来说需要手机硬件和软件的支持。这一功能增加并不能像短信或者彩信那样得到手机终端厂家的全面支持。不过现在有了另外一种方式。
Jack Dorsey这个Twitter的发明人离开Twitter公司以后发明了一个叫Square的手机支付系统。解决的方法是将塑胶制作的读卡器插入iPhone的耳机孔内，然后把信用卡在这个读卡器上刷过后，相关的信息就会通过这个塑胶传给iPhone。iPhone再将数据传给square服务器。然后在iPhone输入金额后，并且在手机屏幕上完成签名，一笔交易就达成了。可以猜测的原理是，这个读卡器将数据转换成音频的模拟数据传送给手机，手机进行模数转换后再与支付服务器进行交互。同理随着支持3mm耳机的手机越来越多，在这些手机上开发相应的软件，即可覆盖其他的手机。即便是不支持3mm的耳机，开发相应接口的读卡器也并非难事。

二、SPDY协议
HTTP协议是目前互联网上最成功的协议。因为你每天浏览网页，网页的内容都是通过该协议传输的。当然如果你不是Web应用的开发者，那么你可能不知道HTTP协议有多少问题。但是你如果是Web开发者，那么你可能会痛恨这个一次交互的Socket协议为什么太多细节的问题没有考虑。不过因为是1996年确定的标准，你本身就不能要求过高。
HTTP协议是一种简易Socket协议，简易到如果你的网页上有html和多个图片，你的浏览器和服务器都需要经过多次交互才能获得完整的网页，因为一次交互只能读取一个文件。(当然还有一些另外的解决办法，将图标文件集中在一张图片上，然后靠css背景图定位，这样很多个按钮可以在一张图片读取，目前126.com就用这种方式降低服务器的hits)。另外对于文件压缩的支持是后续增补的协议，并未强制要求浏览器支持，而且http header部分是不压缩的。如果你的网站有cookie或者session这类的东西，因为每次请求都会带着这个不压缩的数据，积累下来传输量也是相当可观的，甚至有人发明人使用非常长的cookie对web服务器进行简易的ddos攻击。
为了解决这些问题，Google在2009年11月份推出了一个叫spdy的协议。据说在Google实验室测试的效果是读取速度加快了55%。
之所以举这两则创新的原因，且听分解。Square电子支付在创新上反其道而行之。毕竟移动通讯从1G升级到2G以后，数字信号代替了模拟信号，但毕竟电话拨号上网的年代并不久远，64K的电话modem能够进行互联网的模数转换，那么转换信用卡的数据转换也不是难事。但通过这种方式可以规避很多问题，因为耳机几乎是现在手机的标配。但如果要从手机的硬件着手，那么这个生意只有终端厂家或者运营商才能经营，而且也只能针对定义了电子支付接口规范，并遵循该规范的新手机才能使用。这种硬件外挂到通用接口的方式却不存在这样的问题。如果3mm耳机以后成为手机的标配的话，那么以后就可以在pos机上增加一个耳机接口，那么支付的时候只要将手机插入这个接口，那么看似现在很难完成的电子支付的问题就迎刃而解。而Google的SPDY协议是颠覆固有的HTTP协议，这样的创新除非你是这一行业的大鳄，即便是Google抑或微软都很难撬动，不过对于Google这样非常依赖互联网协议的公司，花再多的努力，一旦掌握了协议的控制权，那么很多问题都可以迎刃而解。
两个创新一个回归原始技术，一个颠覆现有次序。但对合适的创新者加上合适的创新方式或许是成功的一半。
