第二次遇到这个词组了，on the fly，当然和飞行毫无关系。这本书可是讨论计算机技术的。
金山词霸告诉的意思是：不工作，闲混。
可是我总不能将add on-the-fly inline forms翻译为"增加不工作的在线形式吧"。完全不知所云呀。

on the fly平时在英语里用的时候和飞也没关系。。。普通英语里说的on the fly是匆忙中的，即兴的意思。我知道朗道里是解释的在飞行中，不工作，闲混。on the fly=飞行中,这是两个世纪以前的用法，现在已经没人这么用了。不相信的话自己去查查英英的牛津字典就知道了。
至于楼上说的软件呢，这个倒是我本行。on the fly在编程里有是用来形容事务是即兴动态产生的，而不是有提前订好的条件静态产生的。不知道这样可不可以理解。如果你是学软件的这个应该不难理解。赫赫

这个更加有趣，有人用它作为自己blog的标题，然而还是不确定它的意思，也找了一番，得到这个结果：
