This is from a Briton's blog and I really feel bad about it. And that reminds me of what Lee Kuan-yaw (ex-prime minister of Singapore) said to a Chinese reporter when asked how he would look at competition coming from India and China (two booming economies). He said, "you can have a lot of tall buildings in a very short time but you cannot change the quality of the people overnight".

The strange thing is: In China, people who are experts or professionals behave better than those neo-riche or upstarts. They may drive a mercedez and live in a five-bedroom house but they spit and they talk really loud in public. Three generations make a noble man. No doubt about that. Rosemary quoted an online debate between two persons (or maybe two classes). And it is really thought-provoking. Should we look down upon construction workers or people who make a living on menial labor simply because they dress, talk and look at things differently? Then how come these really rich Mainland Chinese tourists let their kids urinate in public places? Are we adopting double standards?
