Today, I removed my email address signiture from every page of my blog.

I put on my email into my blog from day one of blogging. I enjoy being interactive with my readers. When there is not so much traffic, it was very rare to get any email from reader. Later, after my monthly page view reached about 1 million, I got two or three emails everyday. Most people seek for help about Shanghai. The questions helped me to find good topics to write about Shanghai.

This March, after my job change, I find it very hard to follow the emails. Now when monthly page view mraches to about 2 million, I simply don't have time to even read all the emails in my email box. It is very bad that someone put effort to write an email to me, waitted somewhere in the world, but I don't have the ability to reply. So I decided to remove my email from this site. It is not easy to balance being "open" (by posting my email address), or being realistic (by realizing that I don't have time for it), I finally choose the easy one - to keep my email to limited audience...

The rude comments made by someone called Bob

"It is not easy to balance being "open" (by posting my email address), or being realistic (by realizing that I don't have time for it), I finally choose the easy one"

some English tips:

to balance - to trade off between
posting my email - publishing my email
the easy one - the easier one

Poor English.

Two points:
1. You may want to change 2003 to 2005 in the signature to keep your copyright date current.
2. Your email address and other contact info are easily accessible at this page:
http://www.wangjianshuo.com/personal/me/contact.htm. You may wish to remove some info there as well...
Of course, there is no way to keep up with all the emails on a site as popular as yours! Hopefully, you would still eventually get to my email about working at eBay or a short "hello" response would be appreciated! :)

@bob,

if you are native speaker, please be tolerance. Among those haven't been living abroad, Jian Shuo Wang has the best English I have ever seen, both oral, listen and written. Please be patient and nice.

if you are not a native english speaker, say for example, you are a Chinese in states or somewhere abroad, please just be nice and respectful.

To trade off between? Never heard of this saying.

WJS, don't worry too much about the English. As long as you make the point across, and you do, you're doing fine.

"To trade off between? Never heard of this saying."

well, thats fun. google the prase of "trade off between" or get a dictionary.

"Jian Shuo Wang has the best English I have ever seen, both oral, listen and written."

ridiculous. and you too baby. "both oral, listen and written". one short sentence pops up bunchs of common solecisms.

hey asshole, try picking up a foreign language perfectly. You are an ignorant little fuck billy bob. The point is he gets his message across. There is no need to make insensitive remarks. Perhaps you are jealous of Jianshuo's one million hits? Maybe you lack something and need to point out your perfect grammar to compensate for you can't do. Wtf are you doing on his site anyway? If you can't be respectful don't say anything at all.

hey, jianshuo, can I ask how many emails do you have? like one for work, one for family, one for blog.....something like that. All of them are hotmail?

My thoughts:

I think this Bob was rude to point out someone's grammatical mistakes if he knows Jianshuo is not a native speaker. English to him is not a second language. He is using a foreign language and he has provided so much useful information for many from Shanghai and abroad. The purpose of his site is to introduce to the world the city of Shanghai and he has been doing great. This is not a site for English learning so Bob has no reason whatsoever to be rude.

Some visitors somehow overreacted and I totally understand that.
