《语言文字法》该不该"PK""粉丝"?
A large pool of Chinese words are on the tip of our tongue as Supergirl Contest and other shows are all over the place. Can we say the Chinese vocabuary is enriched by these words? Should the language policies be changed to accomodate the increasingly colorful yet a bit confusing Chinese language? Should we start PURIFYING the language?
Here are some examples of buzzwords you hear or read every day:
美眉－a beautiful girl (woman) <not beautiful eyebrows>
PK－单挑
粉丝－fans <not vermicelli made from bean starch>
玉米－fans of Li Yuchun (this year's Supergirl Champion) <not corn>
忽悠－trashtalk or fool around; or diversion <Northeast dialect>
So is worring the way out? I don't worry about it. Language has a self-purification process in which time and practice will show what kind of words can stand the test of time. Some local unversity professors as well as some policy-makers say Shanghai should be more inclusive of the other dialects and languages...
