明年，再见《迷失》第四季

第一阶段——肃清（The Purge）
Rhichard Alpert和Jacob等人是奇异的LOST小岛上年代久远的原居民。这个奇特的小岛在60年代被人发现，于是在Hanso Foundation的支持下，抱有邪恶野心的Dharma组织来到小岛上展开各种超自然实验，原居民们一度沦为工人以及实验品。直到Jacob鼓动了一场革命，释放出的毒气消灭掉了岛上的Dharma，还在无意中消灭了一只科考队伍(只有一名法国女性生还)，并对小岛带来了许多负面的效果。以Jacob 为领导的原居民们推翻Dharma小岛分支的这场革命，史称肃清运动。
黑烟便是在“肃清”过程中产生的："黑烟"是Dharma的一个纳米和神经网络的试验，始用来保护各个站外围的安全，后来在“肃清”Dharma控制者的过程中被毁坏。它从此开始到处闲逛，并且有了自我意识，这便是之后Losties等人所看到的黑烟。
正是前面提及的一些负面效果，在“肃清”之后，一个才华突出的争议性的角色——Ben Linus被Jacob选定，并肩负起一个重大的使命：小岛拯救行动。。。

第二阶段——其他人（the others）
Jacob因某些原因隐藏在大家中间并继续下达命令，而Ben Linus被他选定，作为小岛拯救行动的领导人。Richard则负责在世界各地冒充Dharma的名义，招募Juliet这样的科学家，和像Tom这样的壮丁，这逐渐壮大了他们的队伍，形成了所谓的“the others”。
The others，不论是那些我们开始了解并且爱戴，或是那些我们开始憎恨的人，尽管行事极端但都是好人（the good guys）。他们在获取了自由之后开始积极消除Dharma试验在他们身上留下的，由岛对没有采取保护措施的人所产生的各种效果：对不同的人，这种效果的程度也不同，比如小孩的特异功能会变得明显，比如孕妇会变得脆弱并死亡，比如男性精子数上升6倍，比如人会产生各种幻觉，等等。。。
The others还有一个最最重要的任务，那就是欺骗Dharma组织让他们相信现在岛上还是Dharma掌权。也就是说：第一、在水下仓（the looking glass）发出信号干扰，使外界与小岛除了火焰仓之外彼此之间不能作任何联系；第二、Mikhail则必须在火焰仓（the flame）保持交流，让Dharma那边的绿灯亮起，这样来确认岛上一切都好并且继续食品供给；第三、Dharma在天鹅仓（the swan）的重要工作——不断输入那组大家耳熟能详的密码，这个工作需要有人继续下去，以免引发怀疑。
The others只有这样才得以让一切看起来都很正常。三个仓分别由Mikhail，两名女性，和Desmond的前任负责看守。3年前Desmond漂落到小岛上成为了天鹅仓的接班人，他被告知自己按按钮是在拯救世界。于是在整整3年时间里，Desmond持续“push the button”，每隔108分钟对电脑输入4 8 15 16 23 42，直到2004年9月的一天，因Desmond的失误没按按钮，而导致了815航班坠落。。。

第三阶段——815航班（Flight 815）
这一段是故事的主线。冥冥之中似有人（Jacob？）操纵一般，Jack，Locke，Sawyer，Claire，Hugo，Sun等人终于来到了小岛。他们的到来是偶然似必然，他们肩负着伟大的使命。
the others对Losties的到来很紧张，因为不知所以的幸存者们很可能破坏他们的行动。于是得到Jacob暗示的Benben赶紧屁颠颠展开了行动：飞机尾仓不少人被洗脑后加入了the others的队伍；由于Eko和Ana的反抗，Goodwin潜伏在剩余尾舱幸存者内部暗中观察（不料被Ana击毙），Ethen打入前舱并挽救了孕妇 Claire（不料被Charlie被击毙），Tom带走小孩Walt研究他的能力（结果和Sawyer结下仇怨，最终被Sawyer击毙）， Losties因为自身的问题又发生不少意外（比如Ana射死Shannon，Michael射死Ana和Libby）。总之the others的出发点是善意的，从来没有主动对Losties造成伤害的意思，但由于彼此的误解与分歧越来越深，又造成了others的更多牺牲（Sun 杀掉一个，Juliet干掉一个，黑女人自杀，等等），事态变得严峻，Losties与Others变得水火不容。
与此同时，另一个巨大的危机悄然浮起，那就是Locke的冲动。前面提到过整个故事最关键的一件事情，就是一定要让暂时无法找到小岛的Dharma组织自以为现在岛上还是他们在掌权，并没有任何异常。也就是一定要持续地“push the button”，直到愤怒过头的Locke叫嚣道：Every single second of my pathetic little life is as useless as that button! 之后冲动地毁掉了电脑，犯下人生最大的两个错误之一，天空为之变色，信号被Dharma南极观察站截获（Penny其实是Dharma一员），小岛地理位置暴露；几天之后余怒未消的Locke紧接着犯下人生第二大错误：炸毁火焰站，并“Enter 77”，Dharma与小岛彻底失去联系。。这终于引发了Dharma工作人员的疑心，派遣先头部队开直升机来岛上探测，而达摩的大部队也即将大规模乘船登岛。。

第四阶段——达摩（DHARMA）
如今的达摩相比70年代时，无论实力还是野心，已经更为成熟壮大。两名达摩先遣人员：Naomi被Losties救活；另一男性坠落海中，将于不久后被冲上海岸。而作为Dharma Boss女儿的Penny为了海枯石烂的爱人Desmond也正努力搜寻小岛。Naomi利用了这一点欺骗众人，声称自己能带他们离开；打听到Naomi 消息的Ben自然猜到Dharma已经到来，决定赶紧“take” losties。
然而Ben终究是一个弄巧成拙的失败的领导者，两方冲突导致多人死伤，但也未能阻止为了爱人坦然面对死亡的Charlie关掉干扰信号。Ben不断的谎言又使得愤怒的Jack在最后关头不再相信他，而选择轻信Naomi。Locke受到小岛的感召前来阻止Jack犯错，但面对以死相邀的Jack他下不了手。因此遗憾地，一意孤行的Jack最后终于召唤来了Dharma。
Penny带着Dharma顺利找到了小岛，为免多生事端，达摩组织将计就计，提出用直升机带Losties离开小岛永远不再回来。在这做抉择的关键时刻，Jack意外地经历了一段同Desmond类似的时空旅行：在另一个平行世界里，Dharma如约放走了Losties，而回到大陆的 Losties，终于认识到当初在天鹅仓没按按钮，以及召回Dharma的后果——整个世界将面临一场浩劫，只有少数人能存活下来……时空旅行了解真相后醒过来的Jack，毅然决定留下来与达摩组织周旋到底。我们从天空中再次鸟瞰整个岛。现在the others已不复存在，故事的第四季的目标也已经很明确——在孤独的领导人Jack的率领下，在受小岛指引的Locke的协助下，所有幸存者们共同对抗Dharma～ v
